Join us for a Book Reading Session on ‘Monet’ by Christoph Heinrich. The session will be conducted by Anushri Nanavati. Anushri is a writer and a teacher at her own institute, Haiku & Hymns Creativity Classes. She teaches creative writing, literature, psychology, history, and French to various age groups. She is enthusiastic about concepts of social justice, global citizenship and the promotion of diversity, the latter especially due to her multicultural identity, having spent half of her life in one half of the globe, and the other in the other half.
In this session, Anushri will read extracts from the book, particularly relating to Monet’s obsession with water and the play of light, which produced his best known works, and share commentary about these works from the author. Participants will explore Monet’s growth as both a man and an artist over the years, hearing his voice from his various letters and conversations with friends. The session will have celebration of his work in Japanese way, by writing haikus (a form of Japanese poetry) on his paintings, nature, and the fleeting effect of “his manifesto of light” on water bodies that surrounded him his whole life.
